SCREAM! (I mean) CRUSH!

First of all, I feel really bad for missing RFX' set... I talked to him while he was at the door and he told me he played some nero-funk... I missed the only drum 'n' bass set..! :( It was nice seeing him though cause I hadn't seen him in a while.

Also ran into MC RIDDA, another junglist I hadn't seen in some time. I think this was the first time I've seen him in person since he lost his dreads!

... anyways...

As soon as I walked in, TURBO TEEN was fucking killing it. Very nice set. Keep booking them ;D
Ca$h le Rock got me going a bit... played a version of "Pon de Floor" I had never heard before (probably was a 'versus' type of track)...

NITRO and LOGIC were fucking killing it as well but with their glow-stringing skills. Very entertaining. Its incredible what they can do!
Also ran into this other guy... I did not get his name, but he was like a magician when it came to giving a light show... he had me giggling like a little school girl *_* Very fun to watch!

... dozed off for a bit...

... then I suddenly noticed some nice mixing skills!
I looked up to see who was at the decks... but I didn't know who he was...
then I noticed he didn't have headphones on... *transitions to the next song*... huh... it sounded pretty flawless... wait a tick! *I looked behind the decks* HE'S USING TRAKTOR!!! WTF LOL No wonder why you didn't need headphones!

I'm sorry but that bugs the shit out of me lol... what's the point of dj'ing if you pull shit like that...

... but right after that "DJ"...

BAQUAI got behind the decks...
Now I have MAD fucking respect for BAQUAI... here's why:
BAQUAI is not afraid to spin vinyl and he does not have to play the trendiest tracks to get people dancing. I first noticed BAQUAI at those day parties on J Street Marina and I haven't stopped loving him since. He's one of those few local dj's that I started looking up to when everything was new to me.
Overall CRUSH was a fun party, I'm glad I went.

noisy banger anthems can't hide shitty mixing...

Just got back from PUSH POP. I had fun because i ran into some old friends and heard a few songs that i like and got some stress out on the dance-floor... but i couldn't help but notice one serious fundamental flaw about the party... ok i know i'm going to sound like a real hater but... THE MIXING SOUNDED LIKE SHIT! Don't get me wrong the DJ's had their moments, but there were too many REALLY noticeable mistakes about their mixing that i just couldn't ignore... it happened more than once and i noticed it with every DJ i heard tonight (except for the DJ's in the smaller room that were playing what i believe was tech-house).

I'm not going to front and act as if I'm the greatest DJ. I still need to work on my own mixing and transitions... that's why I've only been booked for one show in my entire dj'ing career :( lol
But if you're a DJ that gets booked on the regular, I'm assuming its because you know your shit. Most of the names on the line-up I had heard of and seen on flyers for other parties but this was the first time i had ever actually heard any of them DJ... and i was disappointed... there were some nice song selections but... ugh... it just sucks trying to dance to train wreaks. It might have something to do with the delay that larger sound systems give off... they probably would've been better off stopping one song completely and starting another.

I know its really hard to get up there and do your thing... so I don't want this to sound like I'm being a dick. And there were moments where i was dancing ridiculously and most likely making a fool out of myself and trying to have fun, but the best moments from tonight weren't in the main two rooms, it was the room with no music and people were socializing.

I'm sorry, but if i ever find a party with a line-up similar to tonight's, I'm not going... no matter how hip and underground it is...
